Tigers Clip Orioles, 7-6
|
The Baltimore Orioles and Detroit Tigers cranked it up at Memorial Stadium.
Baltimore left fielder Ron Gant had a good game, even if his team did not. The Orioles dropped a 7-6 decision to Detroit at Memorial Stadium. Gant went 2 for 4 with a home run, a triple, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Bob James was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 36 of 37 save opportunities.
Detroit right fielder Dante Bichette helped the Tigers go up, 7-6, in the top of the seventh inning. With the game tied, Bichette hit a run-scoring single off Baltimore pitcher Dennis Eckersley.
"Winning is contagious," said Bichette. "We're looking forward to the next game."
The Tigers now have a mark of 74-62.
