Athletics Walk Off with 4-3 Win
|
Milwaukee got a terrific performance from pitcher Curt Schilling, but it wasn't enough to beat the Oakland Athletics. Oakland won the Oakland Coliseum contest, 4-3. Schilling was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 8 innings of 4-hit ball. Oakland is now 81-75.
Kelly Gruber swatted a 3-run home run for Oakland in the bottom of the ninth. The third baseman went 2 for 4 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 2 runs and batted in 3.
"This place went bonkers at the end," Gruber said.
