Brewers Lose, 6-3, at Oakland Coliseum
|
The Oakland Athletics picked up a win at Oakland Coliseum, knocking off the Milwaukee Brewers, 6-3. Starting pitcher Jaime Navarro was an essential part of his team's success. The winning pitcher was Navarro, now 13-9. He tossed 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 5 and fanning 6. Bill Caudill earned his 46th save in 52 chances.
A crucial at-bat came with the bases empty and no one out in the bottom of the fourth inning. That's when third baseman Kelly Gruber, who is on pace for 106 RBI this season, hit a solo home run. The Athletics went on to win.
"We'll savor this win," Navarro told the Oakland Chronicle, "then get ready for the next game."
Oakland has now won 3 straight, while the Brewers have lost 3 in a row.
