Sosa Slugs Mets to 7-4 Win
It was a good time at Shea Stadium, where fans came to watch the Washington Senators and New York Mets get after it.

A 3-RBI performance from Sammy Sosa, who is tied for 4th in the UL in home runs with 11, helped the New York Mets beat the Washington Senators, 7-4. Mike Scott went 7.1 innings for New York to pick up the win. The right-hander was charged with 4 earned runs. He scattered 5 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 4. His record improves to 3-4.

In the bottom of the sixth, Sosa had one of his most important at-bats: a solo home run off Jeff D. Robinson that staked the Mets to a 4-3 lead.

"We cashed in when we had the chance," said New York manager Michael Kritikos.

New York has now won 3 in a row.
