Extra-Inning Win by Mets over Orioles
|
The New York Mets picked up a win at Shea Stadium, knocking off the Baltimore Orioles, 4-3. Starting pitcher Bob Milacki was an essential part of his team's success. New York reliever Dave Beard picked up the win to move to 2-1. Dennis Eckersley suffered the loss. New York, now 22-18, holds second place in the United League East Division.
New York center fielder Sammy Sosa helped the Mets go up, 4-3, in the bottom of the 13th inning. With the game tied, Sosa hit a solo home run off Baltimore pitcher Dennis Eckersley.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Sosa told the New York Bulletin.
