Cardinals Win at Chicago, 3-1
|
Fans who gathered at Comiskey Park saw a good contest between the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago White Sox.
St. Louis Cardinals starter Doug Drabek turned in a top-notch performance against the Chicago White Sox at Comiskey Park. The result was a win for the Cardinals, 3-1. Drabek, now 8-3, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 1 earned run. Steve Chitren got the save, his 21st in 22 chances.
St. Louis second baseman Craig Grebeck contributed to the cause with a run-scoring double in the top of the first. For the game, Grebeck went 1 for 4 with a double.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said St. Louis manager Adam Rabel. "It's usually not just one thing."
St. Louis, at 49-34, sits in second place in the Federal League Central Division.
