Giants Sneak Past Athletics, 7-6
|
The San Francisco Giants picked up a win at Oakland Coliseum, knocking off the Oakland Athletics, 7-6. Starting pitcher Floyd Youmans played a key role in the triumph. Mark Dewey, credited with the win, is now 1-0. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3.2 innings. The Giants bumped their record to 43-41 with this latest triumph.
The contest featured some late-game dramatics from San Francisco second baseman Delino DeShields. In the top of the 12th inning, with no one out and the bases empty, DeShields drew a walk to help San Francisco seize the win.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said DeShields.
