UL Honors Sheffield, #1 Batter in July Saturday, August 1st, 1992 At only 23 years of age, Gary Sheffield could very well be having many more months like the last this in his career. That would be great news for fans of the New York Mets, as July was one to remember for the shortstop and he has captured the United League Batter of the Month award. On the month he hit .257 with 13 home runs, 31 RBIs and 20 runs scored. This season Sheffield has hit 29 home runs and posted a .220 batting average. |
