Washington No Match for Hammond
Tuesday, September 1st, 1992
Chris Hammond held the Washington Senators to 4 hits and fashioned a fine 1-0 shutout at RFK Stadium today.

Speaking after the game, Toronto Blue Jays manager Jose Mata said "Hammond had everything going for him today."

He changed speeds effectively, stayed down, had a lot of movement," he said. "He was masterful."

Hammond rung up 5 strikeouts and surrendered no walks in the game.

"We couldn't get anything going. He certainly had our number," Washington manager Alexander Cumana told reporters.

This year Hammond has a 13-8 record with a 2.72 ERA in 28 starts.
