The San Diego Padres were dealt a blow today when starting pitcher Rod Nichols left the game with an undisclosed injury. The team has now revealed that Nichols has suffered a damaged elbow ligament and will most likely miss the rest of the season as a result of the injury.
Nichols has made 33 starts so far this year and put up a 10-16 won-lost record with a 4.07 ERA. In 216.2 innings he has allowed 214 hits, walked 63 and struck out 142.
