Johnson Fashions Shutout Against Mets
Tuesday, September 15th, 1992
Randy Johnson kept the New York Mets hitters from doing any damage at Shea Stadium today.
New York could only muster 2 hits and take no walks against the left-handed Johnson, who controlled them throughout the game as Seattle took the contest, 3-0. Johnson added 12 strikeouts in his complete-game effort.
"I don't know if I was on or if they were off today," Johnson told reporters after the shutout win. "But whatever it was, I hope it happens again next time."
This year Johnson has a 16-11 mark in 31 starts with a 3.04 ERA. He has given up 154 hits in 233.2 innings, struck out 331 and issued 73 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .182 batting average against him.
