Martinez Selected Top Rookie This Year
Martinez Selected Top Rookie This Year
Tuesday, October 27th, 1992
Pedro Martinez went to the hill with confidence every time out this year. He wasn't your normal rookie pitcher. He was something special -- special enough to win the 1992 United League Rookie of the Year.

The Montreal starter posted a 13-12 record and a 2.83 ERA, starting 29 games, piling up 216 innings, giving up 142 hits and striking out 234, while holding opponents to a .185 average.

Tim Salmon of the Milwaukee Brewers finished second in voting, while Troy Neel of the San Diego Padres finished third.
