Orioles Even With Giants After Home Win
The Baltimore Orioles knotted up the Division Series at Memorial Stadium today, thanks in large part to starter Steve Avery. Avery quieted the San Francisco Giants, enabling Baltimore to grab the 4-0 win and move into a 1-1 tie in the best-of-7 series.

The Orioles liked what they saw from Avery. The 22-year old pitcher had a commanding presence on the mound, limiting the Giants to no earned runs on 5 hits over 8.1 innings, and striking out 5.

"I just tried to attack the bottom of the zone," Avery said.

Game 3 is set to be played Friday in San Francisco. The scheduled starters for the game are Ben McDonald for Baltimore and Butch Henry for San Francisco.
