Stars Hipolito Pena Down and Out for Year

When Hipolito Pena was hurt against the Tacoma Twins, the Las Vegas Stars were hopeful that the injury was not serious. However, it proved to be more severe than first thought. The 27-year-old starting pitcher suffered a torn flexor tendon in his elbow throwing a pitch in yesterday's game. Team doctors told BNN today that Pena would miss 8 months of the season.
Over the season Pena has thrown 64 innings and dished out 49 strikeouts with a 2-3 mark and a 3.38 ERA.
