Aeros Jeff Reardon to Miss Year

Wichita fans will be disappointed to learn that Jeff Reardon suffered a ruptured ulnar collateral ligament while throwing a pitch in today's game. After the doctor informed the Wichita Aeros manager that Reardon was expected to miss 13-14 months, the manager told the press that the rest of the team would have to step up their play until the closer could return. "You can't make excuses in baseball, because there's always a game tomorrow," said the team's skipper.
This year Reardon has made 10 relief appearances, pitched 10.1 innings, and fashioned a 0-0 record with a 0.00 ERA. He has recorded 5 saves, struck out 12, and allowed opposing clubs to hit .220 when he is on the hill.
