Injury Sidelines Scott Chiamparino for Season

The doctors have spoken and Scott Chiamparino of the Chicago Cubs didn't like what he heard. The 26-year-old starting pitcher is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Chiamparino sustained his season-ending injury during the Orlando Sun Rays game yesterday at Wrigley Field. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while throwing a pitch. Today the Chicago medical staff reported Chiamparino had a torn flexor tendon in his elbow and would be absent from the lineup for at least 12-13 months.

Royals Alomar Down with Injury

Kansas City fans will be disappointed to learn that Roberto Alomar suffered a strained lat while running the bases in today's game. After the doctor informed the Kansas City Royals manager that Alomar was expected to miss 4 weeks, the manager told the press that the rest of the team would have to step up their play until the second baseman could return. "You can't make excuses in baseball, because there's always a game tomorrow," said the team's skipper.

This year Alomar is batting .324 with 1 home run and 3 RBIs.

Brown Injured from Slip in Shower
Wednesday, April 7th, 1993
Jarvis Brown is expected to miss the team's next 2 games after reportedly slipping in the shower at his home. The Senators center fielder suffered a badly bruised forearm. "It's really painful when I lift my arm up right now," said Brown. "It should be fine in a few days, but I don't want to be a defensive liability to my team in the meantime."
